Sussex Hang Gliding and Paragliding School, Tollgate,
Nr.Lewes, East Sussex BN8 6JZ |
Paragliding & Hang gliding Tuition : the premier flying school in Sussex!Sussex Hang Gliding and Paragliding school offers both Hang gliding and Paragliding tuition & training by our own dedicated team of instructors throughout the year from its base on the South Downs, near Brighton, East Sussex. For a map see image below (We're not too far from London !) Over the last fifteen years from our humble early days based in a loft in the outskirts of Brighton, Sussex we have enjoyed a high degree of success, training and enthusing budding pilots to take to the air. Sussex Hang Gliding & Paragliding school has now developed into the largest flying centre in the South of England, a few of those very first pilots are now World class pilots, some of them have come back to the nest to teach and pass on what they have learnt on their travels. We not only run taster and full courses in Britain but also training courses in Spain, Pilot and Cross country skills clinics in Tenerife, Turkey and Southern France. Our Flying Sites: Sussex Hang Gliding & Paragliding have appeared on TV a few times over the years, we were chosen by BBC's Holiday program to teach them to fly as we are not only the country's premier flying centre but also situated in the heart of the beautiful South Downs with it's stunning scenery and fantastic flying potential. Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne and many villages (such as Alfriston, voted Sussex's most beautiful village) are only a stones throw away so its easy to make use of their potential if it happens to not be flyable. We are a BHPA registered flying school.
Our instructors will give their all to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable experience during your Hang Gliding or Paragliding course. Between them they have many years experience and an unsurpassed knowledge of local flying / meteorological conditions to ensure you get the most from the day. With a variety of complementary styles, our instructors will aim to maximise your learning potential for free flying, in an environment that is as fun and safe as possible. Tim Cox is the Chief Flying Instructor and has been flying Hang Gliders since the mid eighties, and Paragliders since their conception in the late eighties. Tim has possibly taught more people to fly than any other person in the country. Tim is not only a keen pilot, but is also passionate about sailing and is often out on his (home made) Catamaran when not flying. John Barrett is the Senior HG Instructor and has been flying since the mid 18th century! John has flown in many countries and in many different flying conditions over the years - a wealth of experience, which is invaluable to you during your course to progress as safely and competently as possible. Russell Ogden (Senior Instructor) has been flying paragliders almost every day since 1994. He has been a regular member of the British team since 1998, competing in the European Championships and World Championships, in 1999 he won the British Open and in 2001 was 3rd. Recently he has started as a test pilot for Ozone Gliders - competing and testing their research wings. Robert Mansley is an enthusiastic Paragliding Instructor who is famous for his aviation exploits around the world. Rob started in 1997 and in this short time has progressed to be an excellent pilot and Instructor. His annual Welsh trip has now become a mecca for pilots, and all of trips end up being a laugh (normally at Robs expense - bless him!) and a great learning experience. |
